TOLD BY WOMEN
Told by Women is a series of ten TV-Movies produced by Ukbar Filmes (Portugal) in co-production with Krakow Film Klaster (Poland), shown on RTP1 in 2022 and 2023. Filmed between March and August 2021 in various locations in the Portuguese Centre region, it was supported by the region's local councils, PIC Portugal and the Garantir Cultura programme. It is an unprecedented project in the Portuguese audiovisual sector that aims to remedy an asymmetry in women's access to filmmaking, which has been corrected at European level throughout the years.
The directors, of recognised talent, come from different generations and have diverse experience in various areas: Daniela Ruah, Ana Cunha, Anabela Moreira in Acting; Cristina Carvalhal and Maria João Luís in Theatre; Fabiana Tavares in Advertising; Laura Seixas, Diana Antunes and Rita Barbosa in Directing; and Sofia Teixeira Gomes in Production.
They bring us their vision and a bold, daring aesthetic that gives strength to inspiring, striking and engaging stories.
This is a project that aims to enrich the market with dynamic and entertaining audiovisual works, but also to promote an entrepreneurial side and an inclusive labour market.
